Beijing Bye Bye
On the road travelling north from Beijing now but still working through photos from the city. Here’s the last I’ll post…some black and white taken from the last couple of hot days before departing.

So continuing with some more trial and experimenting…here’s some HDR images put together from the Temple of Heaven and the Olympic Park.
So after the black and white night shots I thought I’d better play around with some colour. These shots were taken over a couple of warm nights meandering around the lake and downtown areas. Several of the photographs are also from the Donghuamen Night Market – a crazy, very touristy, place where all sorts of strangeness are offered skewered and barbequed for you to try. Snakes, scorpions, silk worms, spiders. They all taste like chicken.
Climbed up the hill in Jingshan Park yesterday and took this shot. Very hot day but nice to finally see some blue sky. Beijing really is an impressively large, and sprawled out, city.
I’ve been enjoying playing around with more black and white lately, especially in the gray skies and smoggy days here. Wandered around the lake area in the Xicheng district a few nights ago and decided a couple of these night shots looked better with the old high grain B&W treatment.
Here’s some snaps from in and around the Forbidden City. Once a great palace where emperors would never leave the walls. Now it is trampled with thousands of tourists everyday. Sitting at the heart of Beijing it has some colourful street-life around its fringes, as well as much security pomp.
Here’s some shots from the land of Peking. It was a dusty hot and busy day all in all, but outside of the mad crazed Forbidden City there was still some snoozing to be found.
